Forest Explorers: Weekend Children's Program Volunteer

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Volunteers are needed for Forest Explorers (trca.ca/forestexplorers), an outdoor childrens program at the Claremont Field Centre. This program runs one Saturday a month, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Ideally the successful candidates would be available for all program dates. The Winter session is September - January, the Spring is March - June.

Must be willing to get messy, participate in games and activities, be a positive role model, and explore the Claremont forest with participants aged 6-12!

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 14 years old.
  • Able to commit to volunteering one Saturday a month, 10am - 3pm for 4 months.
  • Interest in the outdoors and environmental programs.
  • Interest in working with children.
  • Reliable source of transportation to and from Claremont Nature Centre (no public transporation available).
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within 3 years) if over 18 years of age, or willing to obtain one.

EXAMPLE OF ROLES:

  1. Assist staff with program delivery.
  2. Participate in exploring, building, and playing.
  3. Engage participants in outdoor and leadership skills.
