How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology Management (ITM), the GIS Technician is responsible for fulfilling various technical requirements of ITM projects, applications, services and training. This position contributes to GIS projects including internal and external consultation, data collection and management as well a liasing with staff to ensure project success. Develops and promotes the use of spatial data throughout the organization.
Works in collaboration with all other business units and external partners to implement functional business requirements for data collection, data management, dissemination, modeling, analysis, reporting on a project basis. The GIS Technician provides technical guidance and recommendations to the Manager, ITM for the purposes of business planning, budget development and ITM program implementation.
Contributes to the design and implementation of data models, metadata, database creation, management, backup, data acquisition protocols, dissemination, documenting methodologies
Responsible for the accuracy and reliability of spatial data and resulting analyses which ensures high confidence for corporate level decision making supporting TRCA’s legislative requirements
QA/QC of input data and output analytical results / cartographic products
Responsible for managing daily tasks for multiple active projects with both short- and long-term timelines
Analysis, Modelling and Application Development
Web, software and GIS mobile application development
Perform a variety of Spatial analyses including vector, raster, 3D and cross discipline tabular analysis and reporting
Provide solution-oriented guidance to TRCA staff business units.
Production of high-quality cartographic products, infographics, charting
What you will need to succeed:
College diploma in GIS/Geomatics or related disciplines
- 2 years minimum experience related to major tasks
- Knowledge of; ArcGIS 10.x, ArcGIS Online and ESRI suite of GIS software, relational databases, and MS Office365,
- Knowledge of data collection protocols, quality assurance and quality control methodologies;
- Excellent project management and time management skills, oral, written and analytical acumen
